It is important to consider several factors when scouting for a location. You have to make sure that your prospective location has enough foot traffic and that the area is accessible for you to service and restock your vending machine.

You should do an initial research before considering any prospective location. You must identify the quantity of possible customers in the area, know if there are existing vending machines in the area, if there are any, you must also identify if they are direct competitors for your vending machine and the last but not the least you should know if your vending machine could fit into the doors of your location. By identifying these things, you will have a clearer picture if your prospective location has a potential to earn you high profits and if you can service your machines easily.


Whenever the location you find only has small employees and the existing machine doesn’t have many customers, there’s a huge chance that your machine would do the same. However, in a location where there are many people and no direct competitors, your machine would more likely to earn profits.



Next, you have to take into consideration the buying capacity of the customers in your chosen location. You have to be really thorough with this. Get out and mingle with your future customers, ask them questions about the products they like and don’t like. You can even do surveys to really understand the products they prefer.

If there are existing vending machines in the area, you have to observe the flow of the products in their machine. You can also ask the people who frequent the location about how does the vending operator maintains the machine, how frequent does the operator service and refill the machine. Find out the strengths and weaknesses of other machines in the area and use it to your advantage.

The moment you decide that your prospective location is indeed a good spot for your machine, it’s now time to study if your machines and products that you sell are appropriate to the location. Ask yourself if your products are the kind of things people would want to buy in that specific location. If the answer is yes, then it’s time to place your machine to the location, given that you’ve already spoken with the business owners and managers to that area, and see how it goes.
