With the current economic instability, people are always finding new ways to earn extra income, and sometimes a sole source of income thinking to have a back up when they are dismissed from their current jobs. A lot of people are drawn to vending business because it’s one of the easiest business ventures. If you are planning on starting your own
vending machine business, this article can guide you through three simple steps. This is not a guarantee that you’ll succeed in the business, this is just a guide on how to start the business the right way.
First, you have purchase a
vending machine. But before buying a machine, you must first identify how much these machines are. Depending on your budget and preference, you can buy candy, gumball, snack, soda or combo machines. You can also choose from buying used, refurbished or brand new machines. Just make sure that the machine or machines you’ll purchase has warranties and will stand for several more years.
Second, is the location. This may sound a cliché, but location is very essential on any vending business. You should place your machines on areas where traffic is heavy. Some ideal locations are schools, offices, malls, airports, gyms, hospitals and a lot more. However, competitions on these areas are also very high. You have to be very creative in placing your machines. If you could find newly built establishments, then you can place your machine there and be the first vending operator in the area. Unfortunately, finding that perfect location is not the end, you still have to deal with business owners and managers and ask for their permission to place your machine or machines in their business.
Third is you have to identify what product you will sell in your
vending machine. You may already have thought about the product since you’ve already bought a machine, but you also have to think of the brand preference of the possible consumers in your location. If you don’t know the product preference of your consumers yet, it’s safe to go with popular brands since they have plenty of advertisements and their products are easy to sell. Schools, gyms and hospitals would more likely prefer healthy food options. You can also do surveys to help you identify the consumers’ needs and wants.
These three easy steps will only help you to start and set-up your vending business. This is not an assurance of the success of your business. This is where the real work begins, after you set up your machines it would greatly depend on how you manage and operate your vending business.
